The title, borrowing from a reflection by Daniel Buren, looks at how artists are able, through the site-specific work, to address the political, formal and cultural issues affecting the space in which they work. The idea behind this roundtable is to rethink the various models of site-specific work, ranging from those associated with public art to those inscribed within the institution, from more architectural approaches to those subverting their cultural and social context, lending special emphasis to the critical potential of these works today.
